The Nature of ThoughtThere are many different types of thought, some trap you in circular thinking and others help you dance with the flow of cause and effect. In the next newsletters, I will explore how to use thought to influence the flow of cause and effect. So subscribe the the news letter so I can send you the latest topics. But first, definitions:
Old Thought: Beliefs, assumptions, and cognitive frameworks stored in the mind during past experiences, which are at best an approximation of reality, and at worst, a distortion.
Comparative Thought: Rethinking of old thoughts to create new frameworks, which are more complex, but still are a rearrangement of old thoughts, often ending in circular thought.
Flowing Thought: Flows during peak experiences, such as being in "The Zone," which is much closer to the nature of reality.
Intention: A state of being that integrates with flowing thought, which influences, in many ways, the flow of cause and effect. In my book, Unleashing Genius, I call this combination of flowing thought and intention, "Integrative Presence."
Original Thought: Describes the insights experienced during "Integrative Presence." Compared with "old thought" or "comparative thought," these thoughts are genius.
